April/May message
We always ask audiences to share their motivation for wanting to get organized. Throughout the room people call out good reasons like, "I'd be able to find things. More free time. My kids would learn better habits. My husband would be happier. Less tension. More money. We wouldn't trip over things. I wouldn't be ashamed to have company. I could decorate. I could hire a. housekeeper. We could sell our house. I'd be on time. Everyone in the room agrees that being more organized would be a good thing.
While all of those reasons are valid, the single best reason to get organized is for the inner peace it will bring.
It's also true that everyone has experienced the good feeling that comes with having everything in order. Regardless of how long it stayed that way, we've all loved it when the house is "company clean." It smells good; fresh and polished. Even the thirsty old furniture looks younger and better when it's had a shot of Pledge. Mirrors shine, carpets fluff up, sinks seem to have a new luster, countetops are cleared, floors glow, sunlight shines through spotless windows, ironed curtains flutter with the sweetness of a spring breeze, Lilacs greet our senses at the front door. There is nothing on earth more heavenly than a house that's been "spring cleaned." Do it for you! Take your house by the horns and wrestle it back into shape. Shape it the way you wanted it to be when you first moved in. Remember the vision... It caught your eye.
See it again with all the possibilities you saw when you moved in. IT IS YOUR HOME. Be the choreographer of your own dance. Put on a comfortable cleaning costume, hold all your calls, turn on some upbeat "Gotta Feeling" kind of flash-cleaning music, pull open the drapes, open up the windows, and fill up a good bucket with nice hot sudsy water. Throw yourself into the spring cleaning performance of your life!
If you follow our cardfile system, you've been dancing through your housecleaning on a daily basis. If you have no system you're libel to get tripped up. We need to remind you of two things. You can't clean surfaces unless you have them and housework is repetitive (It is if you do it!)
We encourage you to join our little sidetracked group. We are a fun-loving; family-loving, life-loving bunch of people who support each other in our effort to get and stay organized. Our core group consists of those faithful women who subscribe to a tape of the month club we call, "Pam & Peggy Keeping In Touch." Every month we record a 60-minute tape inspired by our own experiences. We pass on good information we've gathered from books we've read, tapes or classes we've found helpful and life on the homefront as we've lived it. It's a loose format (as only a sidetracked soul would appreciate) but it does hit home, as only one who is there would know. In the hour we share ideas on finances, diet, child-rearing, housekeeping, marriage, meals and more. You simply must join the group if any of this applies.
"Hmmmm. How much?"
"$49.95 for six months. That's about what a set of fake fingernails costs."
"Hmmmm."
"That's six hours of comedy, inspiration and information. We don't know how to hook you, but once you are, we know you'll stay."
